Greedy Growers Lightning

The core greed mechanic — risk, timing and lightning-proofing

"Don't get too greedy…" is literally the game's official tagline, and lightning is why. Every tree you leave standing grows more valuable — but a bolt can end the bet at any moment. This page collects everything reliably known about the strike system.

The gamble

Trees pay more the longer they grow. Harvest early and you bank a safe payout; hold out and the multiplier climbs. Lightning introduces the timer: when a storm hits your plot, an unharvested tree can be destroyed. The exact strike schedule and probability are not published by the developer — any site claiming precise "strike every X seconds" numbers is guessing.

Struck trees are not always a loss

Chargedx7.5Lightning interaction

When lightning does connect, fruit can come out Shocked (x2.5) or the rarer Charged (x7.5). That turns a strike into a consolation prize — sometimes even a profit — but it should never be the plan.

Lightning protection: the Turtle

The only documented mitigation is the Turtle pet (Mythic Egg, 2,000 Tickets): a small chance to negate one lightning strike during tree growth. Pair it with deep harvest timing when you are pushing a high-rarity tree past its safe window.

Practical timing rules

  • Common/Rare trees: harvest on sight — their ceiling is low, so greed buys little.
  • Epic and above: let them ride through one weather cycle; mutations multiply far harder than raw growth.
  • Legendary+: with this much cash on the line, equip the Turtle or sell before storms.
  • Before a Rebirth: always plant inventory seeds first — Rebirth wipes them.
